Built at Galveston TX by Todd-Galveston Dry Docks Inc.
Keel laid Aug 13, 1944;  launched Sept 23, 1944 Built for the U. S. Navy during World War II as a landing ship (tank) LST 885.  Original dimensions 328’ LOA, 50’ beam, 22’ depth.  Sold 1951 to owners below and converted to bulk freighter at Lauzon QC by Davie Shipbuilding & Repair Ltd.  Sailed to the Great Lakes via the Mississippi and Illinois Rivers in 1953

1 deck, 2 oil-fired diesel engines, 1800 BHP

Sank about 1980 off Georgetown Guyana
