Launched as Tyneville.  Renamed John J. Boland Jr. before entering service

1 deck, arch cargo hold construction, hatches @ 24’, coal-fired boilers, triple expansion engine, 750 IHP

Entered service 1928

Enrollment transferred to Canada 1929     Can 149467     (home port to Sarnia ON)

Foundered Oct 5, 1932 off Barcelona NY, Lake Erie.  Four lives lost.  Cleared Erie PA with cargo of coal, including deck cargo, for Hamilton ON.  Struck by heavy sea in gale;  deck cargo shifted and vessel capsized with only a few minutes warning.
