Sold 1936 to Wilson Transit Co., Cleveland OH

Fleet renamed Wilson Marine Transit Co. April 1957

Damaged in grounding about 1957 and abandoned to the underwriters as a constructive total loss.

Sold for scrap 1958 to Knudsen Brothers Shipbuilding Co., Duluth MN.

Resold 1961 to Fraser-Nelson Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co., Superior WI and converted to a floating dry dock.

  1. I think my Uncle: George Skuggen was Captain of the Ireland and his Son Skip Skuggen amy have been First Mate

    • Wilson start-of-season appointment sheets show him capt of Ireland 1948 thru 1952. Also S. H. Robbins 1944, nothing in 1945 (in military service?), Frank E. Taplin 1946-7, James Laughlin 1953-6, Frank R. Denton 1957, Norway 1958, B. F. Jones 1959-60 and Charles S. Hebard 1961-2. Got no records on first mates.
