Laid down as bulk freighter Allette for the French Marine for off-Lakes service during World War I.  Requisitioned by the United States Shipping Board during construction, renamed Lake Markham and left the Great Lakes upon completion

1 deck, coal-fired boilers, triple expansion engine, 1250 IHP

Sold 1926 to Central Dredging Co., Cleveland OH (home port to Cleveland OH), renamed Chicago  (2) and returned to the Great Lakes.  Converted to sand dredge.

Entered Great Lakes service 1926

Sold 1935 for off-Lakes service and left the Great Lakes

Scrapped 1940 at Baltimore MD.
