Built at Lorain OH by American Ship Building Co., Hull 702
Launched Jan 25, 1913
Built as S. O. Co. 85 for ocean service and left the Great Lakes upon completion.  Renamed S. T. Co. No. 85 1916, Socony 85 1918 and Gotham 85 1930. 

Transferred to Great Lakes service 1937.

Sold 1940 to Cleveland Tankers Inc., Cleveland OH and renamed Cleveco.

Foundered December 3, 1942 off Cleveland OH, Lake Erie.  Enroute from Toledo OH to Cleveland with a cargo of oil towed by tug Admiral.  Tug sank in sudden storm Dec 2.  Barge lost later that day or early Dec 3.  All 18 aboard both vessels lost (14 from tug, 4 from barge).
