1 deck, hatches @ 24’, 2 oil-fired diesel engines, 1280 BHP

Entered service 1954

Lengthened and deepened 1959 at Lauzon QC by Davie Shipbuilding & Repair Co.
Remeasured to 343.4 x 43.8 x 22.8, 3376 GT, 2657 NT

Sold 1971 to Consortium Ile d’Orleans for service on the lower St. Lawrence River and left the Great Lakes.

Converted 1972 to hopper dredge at Sorel QC, renamed Ile Aux Coudres and served as a spoils carrier on the North Traverse project below Quebec QC and on other dredging projects.  Towed to British Columbia 1984 and renamed Canadian Challenger 1986.

Sold for scrap 2002

  1. If you have an email you can send me, I can send you a nice photo of Hutchcliffe Hall. I am unsure of the year of the photo. I came across it while going thru some inherited slides from family.. My grandfather loved to take pictures, and a lot of them were put away for many years! I’m assuming it meant something to him or he wouldn’t have had a photo of it… He passed away in 1977, so it was before then is all I know..
