Built at Lorain OH by American Ship Building Co., Hull 908
After section built in drydock at Lorain.  Forward cargo section built at Toledo OH.  Cabins built at South Chicago IL.  Vessel floated May 8, 1980.

1004’ LOA, 990’ LBP, 105’ beam, 50’ depth
1 deck, arch cargo hold construction, hatches @ 24’, 2 oil-fired diesel engines, 19260 BHP

Enrolled at
988.9 x 105.2 x 54.1, 34620 GT, 29553 NT     US 621104     to:
United States Steel Corporation, Cleveland OH (home port New York NY)

Entered service Sept 19, 1980 clearing Lorain OH light for Two Harbors MN

Fleet made a subsidiary of United States Steel Corporation 1981, renamed USS Great Lakes Fleet Inc., Duluth MN (home port to Duluth MN)

Fleet sold 2003 to Canadian National Railway Co., Montreal QC and renamed Great Lakes Fleet.  Operated by Keystone Shipping Co., Bala Cynwyd PA to continue to be able to continue to trade between U.S. ports.
