Steel ocean bulk freighter

Built at Nagasaki Japan by Mitsubishi Zosen, Hull 1539
Launched Nov 22, 1961 as Skaustrand ( Norway) for ocean service.  Originally 580’ LOA.  Lengthened 1965 at Gotaverken Sweden.  Renamed Gaucho Taura (Liberia) 1973.  Sold 1976 to owners below, renamed St. Lawrence and came to the Great Lakes.

649’10” LOA, 622’4” LBP, 75’4” beam, 45’11” depth
1 deck, oil-fired diesel engine, 7800 BHP

637.0 x 75.0 x 42.0, 17952 GT, 11920 NT     Can 370514     to:
Canada Steamship Lines, Montreal QC  (home port Montreal QC) (owned by parent company Power Corporation of Canada Ltd.)

Entered Great Lakes service June 1976

Sold for scrap 1984  to Taiwanese shipbreakers.  Cleared Quebec QC Nov 13, 1984 under her own power.  Arrived Taiwan Jan 5, 1985
