Lengthened and deepened 1959 at Montreal QC by Canadian Vickers Ltd.
Remeasured to 343.0 x 43.6 x 23.7, 3542 GT, 2613 NT

Transferred 1963 to Mohawk Navigation Co., Montreal QC

Sold 1967 to Quebec & Ontario Transportation Co., Thorold ON and renamed New York News  (3)

Buckled July 18, 1967 at Pugwash NS loading salt and sank.  Raised, repaired and returned to service.

Fleet sold 1985 to Transport Desgagnes, Quebec QC (home port to Quebec QC) and vessel renamed Stella Desgagnes.

Sold 1993 for off-Lakes service but only reached Trois Rivieres QC, where she was laid up.

Renamed Beam Beginner (Panama) 1993

Sold 1995 to Gravel & Lake Services, Thunder Bay ON and renamed Wolf River.

Returned to Canadian flag

Laid up 1998 at Thunder Bay ON

  1. The August 2017 and July 2022 sightings mentioned above were of a different vessel: the current Tecumseh CAN 836045, IMO #7225855 built as the Sugar Islander. As far as I can recall, the Wolf River has not left Thunder Bay since 1998.

    Was driving through the Ashtabula Harbour July 4 2023
    Saw the name Tecumseh on a freighter. Is it still operational? Thanks for any info
